Which Sensing Method to Choose?

Three mainstream perception approaches. For large, variable aluminum castings, we prioritize laser line scanning.

3D Laser Line Scanning

Scans the casting to locate flash and measure stock precisely, correcting the path before contact. Best for large deformation and porosity-safe shallow removal.

  • Principle: laser profile → 3D contour → trajectory correction

  • Accuracy: ±0.05mm

  • Best for: large castings, flash location

Force-Probing Locating

A force sensor lightly touches the part to probe position and compensate. Low cost, but limited to simpler geometry.

  • Principle: physical touch probe detects position

  • Cost: Low

  • Best for: simple shapes, distinct features

Vision Photography Positioning

An industrial camera captures the whole-part outline to compute and correct clamping deviation.

  • Principle: photograph outline → correct clamping offset
